The New Jersey International Association of Business Communicators (NJ/IABC) student chapter was established on April 12, 2006 at Fairleigh Dickinson University , Madison , NJ . It is the first, and currently the only, IABC student chapter in the New York , New Jersey and Connecticut tri-state area.

The NJ/IABC student chapter offers rolling admission to undergraduate and graduate students attending any New Jersey-based college or university. The NJ/IABC professional and student chapters have formed a partnership. The professional chapter has offered to help guide and support student members transitioning into the workforce by providing networking and career development opportunities. “In a field that has recently grown in recognition, we look forward to sharing our expertise and increasing students’ knowledge as they prepare to enter the professional world of communication,” said Richard Ecke, president, NJ/IABC professional chapter. In addition, the chapters will regularly co-sponsor events throughout the state.
